For the first time in 22 years, Director of Squash, Josh Taylor led the England U19 team spear headed by Finnlay Withington to Gold.
In a dramatic final Finn overcame a 2-0 decifit in the first tie, in the no. 1 string match, to win 3-2. The match went right to the wire leveling off at 1-1 with captain Sam on. Sam pulled off the match of his life to get the team across the line.
On winning:
Josh said: “I’m so proud of these boys. I knew they could do it, it’s been a rollercoaster to get to this moment. From the first squad with some of these players 10 years ago to world champions… incredible! The first England team in 22 years, they have made history!”
