Winter Tri-Series Final

A GREAT day at Fairways Lodge, some great matches, and a lot of fun!
A GREAT day at Fairways Lodge, some great matches, and a lot of fun!

A-Grade Winner: Ruan Olivier

Some fantastic squash on show from Ruan, Carlton Oldham had a very tough first round and semi-final so may have been tired and didn’t have enough in the tank to trouble Ruan. We were then treated to a great 3rd place playoff, between Fairways star Tom Dwyer and Sam Ince-Carvalhal, which Tom won 2-1, 6-11 11-3 11-9, securing himself the bronze medal today and 3rd place in The CLUB Series Standings.

B-Grade Winner: Matthew Muller

Matt made the day very difficult for himself, losing the first game in every match he played but was just a little bit too strong for George Barker in the final, who put up a great effort for an unfortunate 2-1 loss 11-3 8-11 9-11. Matt also won best dressed (as he does every time he plays). The 3rd place match saw Amy Royle comfortably beating Matt Parks, with crosscourt nicks galore. Matt should probably have won the 2nd when 10-7, but Amy never panicked and just kept chopping it in.

C-grade Winner: Noah Riley

Noah, another Fairways Favourite, was on fire today, didn’t drop a game on the way to the final, where Abdullah Iqbal put up a valiant effort but again Noah won 2-0 11-7 11-8.

A battle of the Leahey’s for the bronze with Mia being victorious beating her Dad, Pete,  2-0 11-7 13-11. Well done Mia.

D-Grade Winner: Harith Iqbal

Harith played some super squash throughout the morning, winning the final against Ian Gibson, 2-1. A close final, 12-10 to Harith in the last game means Ian may rue a few too many tins but i’m sure he’ll be happy with silver. Dave Price won the bronze in a closely contested match against Aasim Kabir, 7-11 12-10 11-9. Unlucky Aasim!

E-Grade Winner: Jake Leahey

Taking home the shiniest medal, along with Mia’s bronze, Jake had a great morning winning each match 2-0, however Oliver Evans did put up a great fight in the final, with Jake taking it 11-8 11-7.

The 3rd place match saw the two at the top of The CLUB Series Standings battling it out, Ethan Ball and Dylan Hodgson, Ethan won this, taking the bronze and thus being Overall Tri-Series Champion. Well done to Dylan for taking the runners up spot.

F-Grade Winner: Finn Allen

Finn beat a very excitable Louis Owen in the Final 2-0 11-4 11-9, some great potential from both of these two (as well as the rest of the juniors who took part today) with some brilliant shots and squash being played by both. Reuben Price took the Bronze having beaten Mitaire Onoge 11-9 11-7, a great effort from both of them.

Special Shout-Out to Alice Todd who was the SquashLevels Most Improved Player of the Day with a massive 70% increase. Nice one!
